What can I do with K-Stra for free?
No card at any point. Explore first, then sign up when you want to run an analysis.
Without an account you can explore the map, draw drive-time areas and open the free dashboard of any administrative area. A free account with no card adds 40 credits once per organisation, valid 12 months, and brings the balance back to 20 each month until the first purchase.
What changes when I sign up?
Exploring needs nothing at all, and the assistant answers 2 questions for free. An account is what lets you run analyses, keep them and keep asking.

How does the monthly top-up to 20 work?
From the month after sign-up, as long as your organisation has not bought credits, the balance is brought back to 20 each month. The top-up fills the gap; it never adds 20 on top of what is left.
Top-up credits last until the end of the month. At least one member of the organisation needs a verified email address for the top-up to arrive.
| When | What happens | Change | Balance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Month 1 | Sign up: welcome credits | +40 | 40 |
| Month 1 | Catchment profile, 5 topics | −10 | 30 |
| Month 1 | Real Estate analysis | −20 | 10 |
| Month 2 | Top-up to 20 | +10 | 20 |
| Month 2 | 10 answers from the assistant | −5 | 15 |
| End of month 2 | Unused top-up expires | −5 | 10 |
| Month 3 | Top-up to 20 | +10 | 20 |
Example. Credits that expire first are spent first, so the free top-up is used before the welcome credits, and whatever is left of it expires at the end of the month.
What does the free area dashboard show?
Click the name of any administrative area on the map — a suburb, a postcode, a council — and a dashboard opens with headline figures such as population, families and median age.
Below them come charts of residents and average income over time, and a pyramid of residents by age and sex. No login and no credits: browsing areas and charts is free.
Where the figures come from
What stays free once the credits run out?
An empty balance stops new analyses, not your work. All of this keeps working at zero credits.
Maps, area dashboards, searches, themes, exports, share links and the analyses you have already paid for all keep working at zero credits.
Everything that never costs creditsWhy are the welcome credits per organisation and not per person?
Because credits belong to the company account. The first person who signs up creates the organisation, and colleagues invited later share its balance without new welcome credits. To prevent abuse, welcome credits go to at most 3 new organisations from the same IP address in 30 days.
Do I have to enter a card to sign up?
No. Signing up needs a Google or Microsoft account, or just your name, email and a password. Billing details are asked only when someone with billing rights decides to buy credits.
What happens to my analyses if I never buy?
They stay in your account, and reopening them costs nothing. You can keep exploring the map and the area dashboards, and the monthly top-up keeps running as long as nobody in the organisation buys credits.
When does the monthly top-up stop?
As soon as your organisation buys a pack or starts a plan. From then on the balance is made of the credits you bought, each with its own expiry, and the free top-up no longer applies.
Is anything kept if I explore without an account?
Only for a short time. Data tied to an anonymous session is deleted after 1 day, and results cannot be saved: an account is what keeps your work.
40 credits.
No card.
